Welcome to Episode 47 of the Joshua Gagnon Leadership Podcast! This is part one of a two-part episode series where Pastor Josh Gagnon lists 3 out of the 6 things he wishes he knew when he started Next Level Church 8 years ago. Make sure you look out for part two coming out soon! Starting out in ministry, I wish I knew... 1. Starting is easy but sustaining health is hard. Don’t get into the mindset of “we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.” Find solutions now and put out fires right away. Find the right people for the right position. Start with the finish line in mind. 2. A big vision is in danger when it’s given to someone who either does nothing with it or moves too fast with it. Failure is a good reminder of moving too quickly. Try to be aware of when your pace is the problem, and then fix the problem. Surround yourself with a team with a slightly slower pace. 3. Say “no” for others, but be more comfortable asking them to step into radical sacrifice. Start with “yes”, and never assume people will say “no”. Make big asks of people and give them the opportunity to say “yes” or “no”. “Start something when you have the ‘who’, not when you see the ‘what’”. - Josh Gagnon “God has a timing, you’ve got to try to live within that timing.” - Josh Gagnon “Don’t expect so much in the immediate that you forfeit the ultimate by moving too quickly.” - Josh Gagnon “When we have a culture that screams, ‘Our sacrifice is unto God!’, people will say yes.” - Josh Gagnon “You asking no asks will cause you to be a very lonely leader doing very little Kingdom of God.” - Josh Gagnon Listen to part two of this episode, to be released soon!
